Stokes State Forest
Stokes State Forest is located along the Appalachian Trail in Sussex County, New Jersey. The State Forest was was home to two Civilian Conservation Corps camps during the 1930s. Some well known CCC porojects in Stokes State Forest was Lakes Ocquittunk and Wapalanne, camping sites, picnic shelters, etc. When most people visit the forest today, the most popular site is the crest of Sunrise Mountain. The site is 1,653 feet above sea level. At the top there lies a pavilion that was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
